Cold Tolerance: Some are damaged at 25 F, and others can handle down to -25 F. Soil Type: Warm, well drained soil, preferably a deep loam.
Size: Black Mulberries can grow to 30 ft. Red mulberries can reach 70 ft. and White mulberries can reach 80 ft! Varieties: Black Persian, Collier, Downing, Illinois Everbearing, Kaester, Pakistan, Riviera, Russian, Shangri-La, Tehama, Wellington
Comments: Care must be taken when prunning a mulberry tree. Avoid prunning branches that are over 2 inches thick. Prunned branches will bleed at the cut. Bleeding is less heavy when the tree is dormant. The tree loses all of its leaves and goes dormant during the winter.
